Trenchless Sewer Repair

When a pipe from your sewer line breaks and starts leaking, problems can add up quickly. But because the sewer line is buried, a simple visual inspection is impossible, and detecting the source of these leaks requires more work. A few decades ago, excavating trenches was the only option. The pipes needed to be uncovered so repairs could begin, but many times these pipes were underneath driveways, lawns, or sidewalks and heavy machinery was required to gain access to them.

Repairing a sewer line was a job that could take many days and water service in the property would need to be shut off while it was completed. Can you imagine yourself spending days at home without being able to use the toilets or take a shower? Fortunately, you don’t have to anymore. There is a new plumbing technique that can repair a sewer in one day and usually only needs a small access hole to be dug.

This technique is known as CIPP – or Cured-In-Place Pipelining- in the plumbing industry, and the difference between an excavation approach and a trenchless sewer repair is like night and day. We are one of the few plumbing companies in Turpin Hills, OH who can provide this service, and this is how we do it:

The very first step for a successful sewer repair is knowing what the pipe is made of, its condition, and where any problematic areas are located. To do this, we send a waterproof drain and sewer camera into the sewer and watch the live video feed it sends. Once we evaluate the sewer line to be sure that CIPP method can be performed, the pipes will need to be cleaned.

The best tool for cleaning these pipes is a high-pressure water stream. We use special nozzles that blast the pipe’s walls with water at a pressure of 3,500 PSI, which completely removes tree roots, mineral deposits, grease, and dirt and flushes it away.

After that, we send a felt liner saturated with epoxy into the sewer line. Once it is in place it is inflated so it can take the shape of the pipe’s interior and left to cure. When the epoxy cures it turns into a solid tube that is extremely durable.

The trenchless sewer repair with the CIPP method was designed to repair drain and sewer pipes with cracks, holes, and even missing sections. It not only seals leaks and is a non-invasive way of rehabilitating problematic sewer pipes, but roots will no longer be able to enter the pipe. Roots are a common source of clogs and slow water flow, so keeping them from reaching the sewer can prevent many future plumbing problems.
